EYEN is gathering the perspectives of young people across Europe on the energy transition and UN climate conferences (COP). Through this short 5-7 minutes survey you can share your views on the role and impact of COP, the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition, and the priorities you would like to see represented at COP31.

The results will help develop youth-led messages, policy briefs and advocacy materials to support dialogue with institutions, companies and youth organizations ahead of COP31, contributing to strengthening the youth voice in energy and climate discussions.

Why EYEN Engages at COP

The European Youth Energy Network is dedicated to ensuring that youths play a crucial role in shaping global energy and climate policies. As the world faces urgent climate challenges, youth must not only be heard but actively involved in decision-making processes. The UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) is a key space where international climate policies are negotiated, and EYEN is committed to bringing youth perspectives to the table.

Through our participation at COP, we advocate for a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition – one that recognizes the role of young professionals and students as innovators, changemakers, and leaders of the future. By engaging in climate diplomacy, policy discussions, and technical dialogues, we aim to bridge the gap between youth-led initiatives and institutional climate action.

Youth Representation in Global Climate Dialogues

EYEN ensures that young energy enthusiasts actively participate in key discussions at COP, providing fresh insights and innovative solutions for a sustainable energy future. We organise and engage in high-level panels, bilaterals, and workshops to amplify youth voices.

Policy Advocacy for Youth-Inclusive Energy Transition

EYEN engages with policymakers, institutions, and stakeholders to highlight the importance of youth participation in decision-making. We contribute to discussions, share insights, and support initiatives that promote a fair and inclusive energy transition.

Organizing Engaging Side Events

At COP, EYEN actively organizes side events that foster meaningful discussions on youth involvement in the energy transition through intergenerational dialogue. Through insightful panels featuring experts, policymakers, and young professionals, we create spaces for knowledge exchange and collaboration, ensuring that youth perspectives are part of the global climate and energy agenda.

Networking & Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships

We believe that fostering collaboration between young professionals/students and key players in the energy and climate sectors is essential to have a real impact. At COP, EYEN builds strategic partnerships with international organizations, governments, other youth organizations and industry leaders to strengthen youth participation in climate governance.

The Numbers of Our Participation

Since its foundation, EYEN has actively participated in three Conferences of the Parties, bringing a total of 19 young delegates to the global stage: 3 at COP26 in Glasgow, 7 at COP28 in Dubai, and 9 at COP29 in Baku. This growing presence would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our member organizations.

Organising 11 impactful side events (5 of which at COP29 alone), EYEN has created spaces for meaningful dialogue, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and young professionals to discuss green jobs, urban energy solutions, and the energy transition. Our representatives have also taken the stage in 22 additional debates, championing youth perspectives on decarbonization, innovation, and just transitions. This engagement has resonated widely, with over 1,200 participants joining EYEN’s sessions, workshops, and networking moments over the three COPs.

Looking Ahead: COP30 & Beyond

As we prepare for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, EYEN is committed to scaling up its impact and ensuring that youth engagement in climate and energy policies remains a top priority. COP30 represents a crucial opportunity to shape the next phase of global climate action, and EYEN is determined to make youth voices heard in the heart of the Amazon. Despite significant delay, EU Member States have finally reached an agreement on the new EU Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement, renewing ambitious targets for 2040.
