The European Youth Energy Forum

What is EYEF

The European Youth Energy Forum (EYEF) is the flagship event organised by the European Youth Energy Network (EYEN), with the mission to create the space for youth to voice its opinion and collaborate with energy stakeholders towards better youth engagement.

The gap that EYEF fills

The time to rethink our relationship with energy is now and today’s design choices for our future energy system will heavily impact current and especially future generations. Currently, there is a lack of youth engagement at a decision-making level in the European energy transition. EYEF aims to induce structural changes towards mainstreaming the ideas and visions of young people in the energy sector.

Our flagship event

A group of young people are selected to participate in weekly online sessions, as well as a 5 days live event (with all expenses covered!). During the online sessions, we kick-off the work needed to build a position paper on how to improve youth engagement in the energy transition at the European, National and local levels, in the public and private sectors, as well as in education. The focus might be in researching and writing new proposals, or on improving existing proposals.

The event includes discussion panels with energy experts (open to the general public and streamed online), as well as work sessions with the participants, facilitated by EYEN.

Participants from the ages of 18 to 35 based in Europe

Outcome: proposals on how to engage youth in the European energy transition

EYEF's impact

EYEF doesn’t stop at the forum.
That’s only the beginning!
EYEF aims to create structural changes towards mainstreaming the ideas and visions of young people in the energy sector.

To do so, EYEN created an Implementation Team, who will contact and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement the proposals at the European level. They will also develop pilot tests of some proposals at National level, which will give important insights into the feasibility of implementing the measures and necessary changes to them.

Lisbon 2022

From the 19th to the 23rd of November, EYEN hosted the first ever European Youth Energy Forum in Lisbon, and the participants reached key milestones in bringing youth closer to the energy sector. With the event, EYEN managed to bring youth from all across Europe together for a week, to bridge them with different stakeholders of the energy sector – from academia to privates and policy-makers. Below are some of the partners who worked with us. If you wish to know more about this edition, see the event page, and access our newsletter edition featuring insights about everything that happened there.
