Youth shaping the Climate Pact: showcasing successful youth engagement initiatives

In the framework of the official launch of the European Climate Pact by the European Commission on the 16th of December, the SDG7 Youth Constituency and the European Youth Energy Network organised the “Youth Shaping the Climate Pact” event, attracting 100 participants from more than 30 countries. Recording is available on the UN MGCY Facebook page.

The event was enriched by the interventions of different speakers including Michal Nekvasil (DG CLIMA), Benjamin Strzelecki (SDG7 YC), Luciana Miu (EYEN) and panelists such as Helen Watts (Student Energy), Helena Nepp (European Youth Parliament), and Marco Costa (CommUnity by InnoEnergy).

Furthermore, participants were divided in different breakout rooms to discuss “Gaps and opportunities for youth engagement”. The results of their discussion were presented to the Director-General of the European Commission – DG ENER Ditte Juul Jørgensen.

Next step: EYEN will draft a policy paper gathering the outcomes of the event and the main contributions from the participants in February 2021.
